pues...

Well folks basically all of you know this because you all reminded me in your emails. I only have 4 months left. I can’t believe it! Time goes by soooooo fast!!!!! That’s only 17 weeks (122 days) left. Puchicka I’m freaking out a little bit!

This week was a good week but nothing too exciting happened. On Tuesday we went and visited with a sister named Pascula. She is the cutest little thing on this planet. She is tiny and is basically the only member that shares the church with others. She walks extremely fast and talks fast too. We went all over Toto visiting her friends. It was great. One of her friends talks a ton! And has had such a hard life. We invited her to be baptized and she said she would think about it. She is just kind of hard to teach because she talks a ton!

Last Sunday we helped a lady pull weeds in her garden and then made a visit with her. And on Wednesday we went and this family is great! I totally thought they weren’t going to accept us. They are so incredibly prepared. It’s a husband, wife, and a little girl. Hno Perez is the weirdest Guatemalan because he is so different from all the others guys. Basically all the men here are sexist, but he isn’t at all. And his point of view on life is soo different it wonderful! They are so prepared for this gospel! I could totally see them getting sealed in the temple and I could see him as a bishop someday. On Saturday we did Mexican enchiladas with them. They live high upon a mountain top. It probably takes a half an hour to walk up there. And when we got there we realized my companion left everything in the house because I told her she needed a jacket. And so she left the bag of food in the house but I did ask her if she had everything and she told me yes… but nope hahaha. So we took a tuk to the house and then back again. But it was a great night with the familia Perez.

On Thursday we did an activity with Yeni and her sister in law. We made molletes. There are Mexican molletes and there are Guatemalan molletes. We made Mexican molletes with Yeni and she wanted us to try Guatemalan molletes.  They are sooo good! Its bread filled with a cream pudding thing. Fried in beaten egg whites with the yolk then put in honey! Oh my goodness you guys they are sooooooooo incredibly good. And this is why I have gotten fat haha.

On Friday we had noche de hermanamiento where all the members get together. We taught the lesson and it was great! All the members that were there gave us references so hopefully it will help the work out a little bit.

Sundays are just kind of rough. Especially when you have 8 investigators planned to come to church and they all cancel Sunday morning. And only one shows up. Which we are SO GRATEFUL for. It’s just hard. Violeta and her daughters were supposed to come. We stopped by for them Sunday morning and they told us they couldn’t come until next week. Chafa (Must be a swear word?). 8:00 am church is the worst. But Sunday nights we have dinner with a sister and it a great way to end the week. The elders got all dressed up in corte. It was awesome and funny because of them in girl’s corte.

And btw I got my results back and I’m fine! And I basically don’t have a cold anymore, so hopefully I can stay healthy.

But have a wonderful week and thank you all for your love and support!

This week was kind of weird but good

On Monday we went with Violeta and her 2 daughters and we taught them the gospel of Christ or lesson 3 and we invited them to be baptized for the 16 of August and all of them accepted, but said they need to come to church to confirm their feelings. But one of the daughters just had a baby by C-section, so she needs a little time to recover but hopefully they will come to church this coming Sunday…

Last week I was supposed to go to Xela to get some tests done but I was too sick to go. My stomach feels better, but the nurses called and told me just to be safe I have to get the tests done. So on Saturday we had to go to Xela and it was basically a trip so that I could go to the bathroom. It cracked me up because they gave me a baby food jar and I had to do a number 2 in that. Weird…not that great of an experience.   Today we had to go again to see if I have anything. I have also been feeling better with my cold.  Still have it but it doesn’t affect me too much anymore.

We are also teaching a family and our zone leaders have a new approach to teaching the ppl here in Toto. First we really have to gain their confidence then we can start teaching them. This family is great. And they crack me up. We had the first teaching visit with them this week and it went great. So hopefully they will accept. I also was able to try on a corte. I will send a pic!

On Friday we had a missionary activity and we had a bonfire with the whole ward and played games and taught people how to make smores…it was really fun!! Side note, also on Monday I taught ppl how to make cakes in the microwave. I brought my cooking spray and nobody could get over the cooking spray they thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now everyone is going to go buy it. hahaha.

But the best thing that happened was on Sunday! Chris decided to get baptized and he set his date. It’s a little ways away but he wants to get baptized the 18th of September because it’s his birthday and he said what better gift could I give myself? It was so great!!! We are so happy. Also we finished the change (transfers). I don’t have changes which I’m happy about but I bet I will have emergency changes like usual, because the month of August will be nuts because there aren’t any changes in August and a lot of missionaries will be going home a little early. So we will see what happens.

Well that’s my week. Hope you all have a good one. love ya lots

Well this week was nuts just like the weather

Just to warn you, this letter is going to be all over the place, but what else is new. So on Tuesday we had our zone meeting and we were talking about our investigators and we have an investigator name Violeta. Last week we visited her with Chris and we made a baptismal date with her and she accepted. We asked her if she knows this church is true, then will you be baptized and she said yes. We taught her the plan of salvation. I said something like, our time here is short and she referred back to that time when she accepted the invitation. She told us that yes I will be baptized because our time is short and Jesus is coming and it’s time I do something. So we were so stoked. She can’t go to church because her daughter just had a C-section so she has to watch over her. But anyways, we were talking about her in the zone meeting and the zone leaders are like wait, Violeta where does she live? Well it turns out she is their investigator too and neither of us knew it. But we invited her to be baptized first. So we have no idea what’s going to happen there. But the zone leaders are crazy, like some other missionaries so it will all work out ok.

Well on Wednesday my body freaked out on me like this whole week. I don’t know if you guys remember that one time in hue hue where I almost fainted. Well the same thing happened on Wednesday. We started eating and suddenly I just got a ton of stomach pain then a hot flash, then I felt like I was going to throw up and then faint, which almost happen and thank goodness we were eating at a really good members house. So they took me to their bed and all the feeling went away from my hands, then like three mins after I was fine and finished eating. After lunch we contacted a dude in the street. He was the biggest flirt I have ever met in the mission and I have met a lot. He looked like he was waiting for someone and we asked him if he was waiting for someone and he was like yes, I’m waiting for you guys. I’ve seen you two a lot and have always wanted to talk to you. He was so direct and was like, can you guys have boyfriends?  I would love to take you out on a date and just a bunch of dumb stuff like that. We are probably going to pass him onto the elders.

Also one thing super crazy is on Wednesday marks (cumplí) a year in the field. I don’t know how to say that in English! In other words I came to the mission field one year ago and I was in Hue Hue one year ago. I just can’t believe how time flies! And all the wonderful things that has happened in that year.

We visited Chris a lot this week. I have never had an investigator so unbelievably complicated like him. I love that kid so much he will be a friend for life but he is so complicated!!!!  On Saturday he went to Xela to celebrate his brother’s birthday and they decided to go to the temple so Chris could feel that it was the house of God. And he left the temple feeling horrible. He felt good until he entered the temple. Also when he prays to know if the Book of Mormon is true he feels sad. I don’t understand it, but if anyone could give me some advice about this I would highly appreciate it. (But if its negative advice I don’t want it)

Well Saturday just kind of stunk, I’m not going to lie. I was supposed to go to Xela to do some examines to see what’s going on with me and to see if I have pylori. But when I woke up on Saturday I felt like a team of football players tackled me like 20 thousand times. and my throat hurt so bad. Just walking to the bathroom was so hard. So I called the nurses and they told me not to come because I was too sick to get out of bed and I basically slept the whole day long. While I was sleeping my companion called ppl about church the next day, which worked out so great for us! Three people came to church and one of them we didn’t meet until we saw him at church. An elder gave us his name and number and my companion called him and he showed up to church. He is a strange little man and is totally in love with my companion. It turns out he has cancer... so one of his intentions to come to church was for money…but yeah... it all turned out good.

Sunday I was able to leave my bed and visit, but it was also the final of the world cup so nobody wanted to accept us because they were either watching the world cup or they were in church. But I’m so glad the world cup is finally over. Also the weather is crazy right now. One moment there is a ton of sun and its beautiful then at night it’s like flipping freezing!!!! It’s the worst.

Side note: The cat that lives with us went nuts the other day and put its kittens under sheet metal that is the roof of a shed of our neighbors and we couldn’t get them out. Well she brought two of them back today and one of them was dead. So I buried a kitten this morning. Poor little thing. It was pretty sad I’m not going to lie.

Well that’s my weird week. One thing I know is for sure is that Heavenly Father is always watching out for me. Even when hard things come, he is always there for me. And it’s the same for all of us. Love you all so much have a wonderful week!

I don’t have an interesting title but....

This week was a great week!!! On Tuesday we met our new mission president and his wife! They are the greatest! They are so different from our old president. And the president´s wife can speak Spanish. She is still learning but she is adorable! We had a conference with him and it was so spiritually uplifting. He is focusing a lot in our personal conversion so we can share the gospel more powerfully with others. One thing I loved that he said. He told us that more important than the interview to enter the temple is the interview we have with Heavenly Father every day or night in our prayers. I love that! My prayers have changed so much because of what he said. So I invite you all to have an personal interview with Heavenly Father in your prayers about how you did during the day. It will change a lot of things in your life. We also had personal interviews with him and then with his wife. They are so humble and so amazing I’m so excited that they are here!!!

Wednesday was really sweet. Chris says he wants to serve a mission, so we invited him to go and visit with us. He came and visited with us from 3:00pm – 9:30pm. All of the lessons we had also helped him and he was just so great. He invited one of our investigators to church. Then we visited Yeni and the kids - love his guts. It was just great. We hope and pray that he will get baptized this Saturday. We will see what happens and if it is supposed to happen it will happen. I have never had an investigator so complicated. He is one tough case. But he has been reading the Book of Mormon and we haven’t even been bugging him about it and he hates reading. He is so complicated because he has so many doubts. But he is such a great kid. He went to church yesterday and the ward was so friendly and great with him, it was the best!

Friday was just one of those great successful days. We found a new family through helping them carries their firewood into their house. Also we walked passed 2 young men and I kept walking but as we kept walking the spirit was like you got to go back and talk to them. And I told my companion that and we went back and talked to them. They actually have a friend that’s on a mission. They accepted to come to the FHE tonight so hopefully they will come.

On Saturday we were waiting for one of our investigators in the park. The whole world is in the park on Saturdays. We contacted a few ppl but I felt like the freak show and it also doesn’t help that everyone thinks my companion is a gringa because she is with me. But we ran into one of our investigators walking in circles in the park (that’s all the youth do here). And we found out she has a boyfriend that is 29 years old and she is only 13!!!! We couldn’t believe it.

Sunday we had the lesson in Sunday School and in the Relief Society. That was kind of fun... NOT. But it all turned out fine. Sundays are the hardest day here. NOBODY is home. Everyone is at church. And we just walk from house to house hoping to find someone. So I basically talked to everyone we saw so we could do something. But all and all it was a great week. I also got a blessing from the elders. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I have been frustrated because I have been sick so much. And the first thing the elder said was Heavenly Father knows how you are feeling and knows your frustration but you will get better, but it will come slowly, little by little. And a ton of other things I needed, it was the best. Every time I get a blessing it strengthens my testimony of the priesthood. Well - have a wonderful week. Love you all so much!

p.s. we also celebrated 4th of July. We made a fire and roasted stuff and there was also a piñata. So it wasn’t the best 4th of July in the world but hey we celebrated it.
