Spanish vocab list

Here's what the Spanish words and the abbreviations/LDS slang Lindsie uses in her letters mean.

CCM: MTC

Espano(s): To be explained later

Elder: Male missionaries are known as elders. It's a title that's similar to Mr. in English.

gringa(s): White woman(en)

Hermana (abbrv. Hna): Sister. Female missionaries are known as sisters. It's used as a title like Mrs. in English. So Lindsie and fellow sister missionaries are called Hermana (last name).

inactives: People who don't practice the LDS religion or go to church anymore.

nortes: northerners, slang for Americans probably

The quetzal: Guatemalan currency, abbreviated quetz.

RM: Returned missionary

Xela (pr. Shay-la): Another name for Quetzaltenango
